No Longer Strangers: God’s Powerful Love

Today's reading from Ephesians is a prayer in which the writer raves profusely about God's extravagant love for us and, immediately thereafter, God's power to accomplish more in and through us than we could ever ask or imagine. God is surely teaching us something about humility, as we try in vain to accomplish all the things we strive to do, knowing we must depend on God to fill us with this indescribable, unimaginable love that can accomplish what we alone cannot. It's hard to believe such a thing, in our moments of weakness and desperation, whether in parenting or work or any other endeavor. But believing—even more, understanding—such a thing is exactly what the writer is praying we will do.
