"But if I say, 'I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,' his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." - Jeremiah 20:9
You Are Not Alone In This
One of the most quietly powerful things Jesus offers to those who are persecuted is company. You are not the first. You are not alone. You stand in a long line of people who chose the harder, truer path and paid a price for it. The prophets knew this. The disciples knew this. And so did countless ordinary people across history who said yes to justice and love when it would have been easier to say nothing. There is something deeply encouraging about that.
When the road feels long or the cost feels high, we are not grinding it out in isolation. We are part of something much larger than ourselves. A community that stretches across time, across cultures, and across every margin where God's people have dared to hope. And that community is not only in the past. It is around you right now. In the people beside you who are also trying to live faithfully. In the shared work of making things right, together.
Encouragement for today: You belong to something ancient and alive. The same Spirit that moved in Jeremiah, in the disciples, and in every faithful person before you is moving in you. Keep going. You are not alone. This week, let the blessing Jesus spoke over the persecuted settle into your bones. You are seen. You are held. And you are blessed.
Reflection Question
Who in your life reminds you that you are not alone in the work of living faithfully, and how can you encourage them this week?
Prayer
God, thank You that we never walk this road alone. Bind us together in love and courage, and remind us that we stand in the company of all who have gone before us. Amen.
