Heaven Is Not Just a Destination

For many of us, faith has been framed around a single question: how do I get into heaven when I die? It is not a bad question. But Jesus seemed far more interested in a different one: how do we live now? The kingdom of heaven, in Jesus's teaching, is not only a future destination. It is a present reality we are invited to inhabit.

The Sermon on the Mount is not a checklist for earning eternal life. It is a description of what life looks like when it is truly alive, when it is rooted in God and oriented toward others. This reframes everything. Your Monday morning matters. Your conversations at work matter. The way you treat the person who frustrates you most matters. Not because God is keeping score, but because that is where the kingdom actually shows up.

Jesus did not ask to be worshipped from a distance. He asked to be followed into the everyday. And following Him means bringing something different into the ordinary moments of life, a kind of wisdom that makes things better for the people around you. You do not have to wait for heaven to experience something of God's goodness. It is available right now, in the life you are already living.
