When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom.

Finding God in the Rhythms
Jesus didn't discover his purpose in a dramatic mountaintop experience alone. His calling emerged through the regular rhythms of his life—attending synagogue, reading scripture, engaging with his community. These ordinary practices created space for extraordinary revelation. Too often, we think spiritual connection requires grand gestures or perfect conditions. We wait for the burning bush or the audible voice. But what if the divine is already speaking through your morning coffee routine, your evening walks, your conversations with friends, even your work commute?
Jesus found purpose not by escaping his ordinary life but by bringing spiritual awareness to it. As a tekton, he built structures while the Spirit built character. As he worked with his hands, his heart was being shaped for ministry. The same hands that laid stones would later heal the sick and break bread. Your daily rhythms—whether you're changing diapers, attending meetings, or caring for aging parents—are not obstacles to spiritual growth. They are the very places where God meets you. The question isn't whether God is present in your routine; it's whether you're awake to recognize the divine in the midst of the ordinary. Purpose often emerges not when we step away from life, but when we step more fully into it with spiritual awareness.
Reflection Question
What regular rhythms in your life could become opportunities for deeper spiritual connection and awareness of God's presence?
What are the rhythms of our lives that help us come in contact with the divine? And I will suggest that all of the rhythms of our life help us come in contact with the divine.
Pastor Jason
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see you in the ordinary moments of my day. Help me recognize that every rhythm of my life can be a place of encounter with you. Make me more aware of your presence in the mundane. Amen.
