Daily Lectionary Reading: Psalm 147:1-11, 20c  (NRSV, The Message); Proverbs 12:10-21 (NRSV, The Message); Galatians 5:2-15 (NRSV, The Message)
My sisters and brothers, you were called to freedom; but be careful, or this freedom will provide an opening for self-indulgence. Rather, serve one another in works of love, since the whole of the Law is summarized in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:13-14 (The Inclusive Bible)
The core ideas of scriptural Christian spirituality could be counted on one hand. This is one of them. In Christ we are free, totally free. No one can shackle us unless we allow them (talking to us, dominant culture and class folks) or whether it is physically forced upon us (as dominat culture and class folks have done throughout history).

However, the freedom is not the final destination. It is not to be hoarded. The freedom is for us to employ in the service of others. "Well we can't be giving our freedom away. We'll run out!" No, like the Divine abundace of widow's flour and oil, the freedom never runs out.
