Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
The journey of faith was never meant to be a solo expedition. While God's call often comes to us individually - in quiet moments of prayer, through personal conviction, or in the stillness of our hearts - the fulfillment of that call happens in community. We need each other not just for encouragement, but for sustainability.
There's wisdom in recognizing our limitations and the danger of activist burnout. When we try to carry every burden alone, we risk neutralizing our effectiveness through exhaustion. But when we're part of a community, we can take turns carrying the load. When you need to catch your breath, others can step up. When they need rest, you can carry the voice forward. This is how hope enters the world - not through perfect individual heroes, but through imperfect people choosing to move forward together, again and again. We do it scared, we do it strong, we do it imperfectly, but we do it together. And then, when we stumble or succeed, we get up and do it again. This repetitive, communal courage is what transforms the world, one faithful step at a time.

Reflection
Who in your community can you lean on for support, and who might be looking to you for encouragement in their own journey of faith?

Prayer
God, thank you for the gift of community. Help me to both receive support from others and offer my strength when they need it. Teach us to move forward together, sharing both the burdens and the joys of following you. May our collective courage bring hope to the world. Amen.
