"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" — Matthew 6:25
Worry has a way of making us feel like something is wrong with us. Like if we just had more faith, we would not lie awake at night running through worst-case scenarios. But that is simply not true.
Jesus met the crowd with honesty and compassion. In Matthew 6, He used the word worry five times in just ten verses. That repetition is not accidental. It tells us that He sees the weight we carry and takes it seriously. Worry is one of the most human things there is. It does not mean your faith is broken or that you are spiritually deficient. It means you are alive, and life is hard sometimes.
The question is not whether worry shows up. The question is what we do when it does. Jesus did not dismiss the real pressures of daily life. He acknowledged them. And then He gently pointed toward something better, not a life free from difficulty, but a life anchored in trust rather than fear. You are not a failure because you worry. You are someone being invited into a deeper kind of peace. That invitation is open to us today, right where we are, exactly as we are. Take a breath. You are not alone in this.
Reflection Question
In what area of your life have you believed that worrying means something is spiritually wrong with you, and how might releasing that belief change the way you approach God today?
Prayer
God, thank You for meeting me in my worry rather than condemning me for it. Help me to come to You honestly, trusting that Your compassion is greater than my fear. Amen.
