Daily Lectionary Reading: Psalm 47 (NRSV, The Message); Exodus 24:15-18 (NRSV, The Message); Revelation 1:9-18 (NRSV, The Message)

Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.

The world, of course, was different back then, at least as scripture describes it. The glory of God just emerging here or manifesting there in revalatory visions or, as told here in Exodus, in  actuality amongst the people.

Divine Spirit inhabits our world differently in our current sensibilities. However, the glorious reality of God still sparkles. Do we evade it? Or like Moses, do we dare to enter in?
